The Wedding of Liam & Jill at Arta (Sneak Peeks!)
29th April 2012 - 2 comments
Hi!

I would like you to introduce you to the beautiful Liam and Jill. They got married in the stunning Arta in Glasgow. I will post the main big blog soon but for now I wanted to share some shots from the couple shoot to answer a question I get asked a lot...

How long should we set aside for the couple shoot?

There is no set answer for this as it all depends on the timings for your big day. From experience I would say the minimum would be 20 minutes and the longest I have spent with a couple on their wedding day was an hour (at the couples request). A good thing to remember is that if time is tight in the afternoon (perhaps you're having a late service) then there is usually a time after dinner while the evening reception venue gets ready and you're waiting for the evening guests to arrive. This time in the evening also provides a lovely quality of light, photographers call this the 'golden hour' (the hour before sunset).

So the answer is that it is completely up to you! Every wedding is different and we can go through your day beforehand and organise the photos in a way that works best for you. To help you get an idea on the different locations and types of photos that can be taken in just over half an hour here are some photos from Liam and Jill's couple shoot. The couple will get loads more photos than this but this will show you how fast I can work.

Liam and Jill were so much fun to photograph! We even managed to get one outside their favourite pub Mcchuills. I love how Jill is rocking her leather jacket for the shoot!

All the best for the future Liam & Jill!
The Wedding of Richard and Emily at Dryburgh Abbey Hotel
22nd April 2012 - 0 comments
Hello!

Let me introduce you to the lovely Emily and Richard! When originally planning their wedding they thought about not getting a photographer as their friends would take loads of photos anyway. I am so glad they changed their mind as this was such fun to photograph! Their wedding was filled with funky little details (check out the dinosaur cake!) and the couple were up for something a little bit different when it came to their shoot. We even managed a game of croquet and a different stages of the beard photo and the night ended with an awesome hula hoop display by Stakatto Blue...

All the best for the future to Richard and Emily!

The Photography Farm
20th March 2012 - 3 comments
Hello!
Sorry about the lack of updates but I have been busy getting ready for the new wedding season and I am very excited! Part of my preparations was to attend Lisa Devlin's Photography Farm and what a time I had!

The farm was simply fantastic. It was so lovely to spend 3 days with people who are as passionate about wedding photography as I am.

On day 1 we got photography tips from the awesome Lisa Devlin and then got to put our new found knowledge to test in a wonderful styled shoot. It was great to see Lisa in action and I certainly picked up some useful tips. The styled shoot was then followed by a very cute engagement shoot for which I did take some photos but mainly stood back and learnt from the other shooters.

On Day 2 we then had a workflow and editing workshop as we edited the shots from yesterday. Even Adam Bronkhorst from Viva Wedding Photography popped in to say hello and was lovely enough to give me some flash advice. Then it was time for business school with a very inspiring talk by Kat from Rock N'Roll Bride followed by a branding talk by Lisa. These talks have really spurred me on to rebrand my wedding photography business and the rebranding is already well underway so watch this space!

Day 2 ended with a very tasty meal followed by plenty of drinks and also a bit of dance!

On Day 3 we got a 1 to 1 session with Lisa which was a perfect way to end it as it left me very inspired and focussed.

And I even got to meet my lovely wedding photographer Sassy from Assassynation

I totally loved my time on the farm and would urge any wedding photographer to attend. I made loads of lovely friends, filled my brain with new ideas and simply had a fantastic experience.

Here are some photos...

A Couple Shoot Around Glasgow
18th January 2012 - 0 comments
Hello!

The lovely Astrid and Ross are moving to Ireland after years staying in Glasgow so wanted photographs of them at their favourite places in Glasgow to remind them of their rock n' roll years in Glasgow! We got a cracking day for it and we all had so much fun walking about the city. Astrid is a wedding photographer herself and certainly knew how to pose in front of a camera!

I wish Astrid and Ross all the best for their new life in Ireland!

2011 - what a year!
01st January 2012 - 0 comments
I have spent the last hour going over 2011 in my head and I have to say it has been my best yet! It is not until you sit down and think about it that you realise how much you have achieved. Photography aside for a moment, 2011 saw me doing up my flat so that it is now a lovely home (massive thanks to my Mum & Dad for all their help!), getting engaged (thank you for saying yes Jen!) and getting a beautiful new addition to the family in the form of a scruffy little dog who answers (when she wants!) to the name of Juno (pictured below)...

And now on to photography! I would just like to say that 2011 made me realise how much I love my job. I really focussed on my style this year and pushed myself to provide my couples with images that really reflect on them as a couple. The feedback I got from my couples was simply amazing and I would like to thank every single one of them for having me as their wedding photographer. I have big plans for 2012 and I am going to push myself and my photography even further.

A massive thanks to my friends, family and my fiance for all their love, support and help. A special thanks also to all the beautiful couples!

All the best for 2012,

Neil

Massive thanks to Kat at Rock N' Roll bride not only for the feature but for her fabulous blog that inspires me everyday.
The Wedding of Mark and Caroline
10th November 2011 - 0 comments
I can't really put into words how much I enjoyed this wedding.

Mark and Caroline came to me and said that they were not really into the traditional style of wedding photography and would be up for anything I suggested. With that in mind I got the venue early and had a scope around for some interesting backdrops while making sure they were close to each other so we could do as many different varieties of photographs in a short space of time. What really made the shoot was working off Mark and Caroline's amazing personality and incorporating the way they interact with each other in the photographs. They never stopped smiling and laughing all day and either did the guests (and the photographer!). They got the wedding and party balance perfectly and I have to say it was the busiest and craziest dance floor I have seen at a wedding.

The day went a little something like this...

All the best for the future to Mark and Caroline!
The Wedding of Craig and Elaine
31st October 2011 - 0 comments
I gave you a sneak preview of this awesome wedding a while back and now I bring you the full blog! The wedding was beautiful and funky throughout, with an amazing church, groovy VM camper vans, a very fun photo shoot and a jaw dropping reception venue. Craig and Elaine are so lucky to have found each other as they're just perfect together. Also, I just have to add what an amazing job Elaine's mum done designing and making the bride and bridesmaids dress.

The Wedding of Chis and Nicola
25th October 2011 - 0 comments
Sometimes you meet a couple and instantly realise why they're together and Chris & Nicola were this couple! They are perfect for each other and this came across in the way they naturally interacted in front of the camera. The wedding was so relaxed and just had an awesome vibe about it and I loved every minute of it.

It went something like this...

All the best for the future to Chris and Nicola!

The Wedding of Gail and John
13th October 2011 - 0 comments
I loved this wedding! Gail and John got married at Gail's hometown of Stonehaven and the photo shoot was taken around places that Gail used to hang about as a kid including an awesome pier that she used to jump off. The colours of the rusty fishing equipment (I think they're oyster cages but don't quote me on that!) with old fishing huts worked really well and the beach was just gorgeous.

It went something like this...

All the best for the future to Gail and John!

The Wedding of Franca and David
12th September 2011 - 0 comments
Firstly I would like to thank David and Franca for being so cool on the day! We had great fun exploring Edinburgh together and they were up for any shot I suggested! The wedding was split into two parts on separate days which meant we had plenty of time for a photo shoot and it also provided a change in outfits as well. It is also worth mentioning that the ceremony hall at the City Chambers in Edinburgh is so pretty and the room was flooded with natural light. You also have to love the chequered dance floor in Our Dynamic Earth!

The Wedding of Leigh and John
30th August 2011 - 0 comments
It was such a delight to be a part of Leigh and John's day. They never stopped smiling and laughing and the brides dress was stunning. Big thanks to the awesome staff at Gleddoch House Hotel who were superb all day but especially for giving me and the couple golf buggies so we could zoom about and pick out some lovely location (so much fun!).

The Wedding of Jamie and Charmaine
10th July 2011 - 0 comments
I must start by saying that the Crichton Church in Dumfries is absolutely jaw dropping and it made such a beautiful setting for this lovely wedding. The bride and groom also looked so vibrant and as you will see below the dress was very dashing.

It went a little something like this...

What a stunning day! The sun was out, the bus was vintage, the car was beautiful, the still loch made a breath taking backdrop for the ceremony, the steam train was such a unique touch and the bride's dress was simply amazing...

I had a great time...

Don't Care What The Weather Man Says...the wedding is going to be awesome anyway! The non-stop rain certainly never put a damper on James and Gillian's beautiful wedding. It even included the best gospel choir I have ever heard (even better than Sister Act!).

Here are some shots from the amazing day...

All the best for the future to James and Gillian!
The Wedding of Andrew and Laura
25th May 2011 - 0 comments
Hi!
One of my frequently asked questions from couples thinking about booking me is can I show them more photos from one wedding?

Well thanks to the awesome Andrew and Laura I can! This DIY wedding was filled with little personal touches and the settings for the service was just stunning. It was so nice to see activities for the children and the entire wedding had such a lovely vibe about it. Thanks once again to the beautiful Andrew and Laura and I wish you all the best for the future.

Here is a selection of 50 photos from the day...

Best Wishes,

Hi,

I had a great time at the wedding of Jennifer and Andy. We were expecting February rain but instead got a beautiful crisp sunny winter's day! Massive thanks to the couple for being such stars in front of the lens and for trusting me to do something a little bit different.

All the best,

Neil
